I have been very productive....

Last week was a week of catching up with old friends. It was great to see so many people who mean a lot to me, because I have fond memories of things we did together: gardening, visiting museums, quilting, cooking, drinking coffee or having lunch.... Did I promise to come back next year? I think I did......

At the end of my visit I spend a long weekend with 62 other women and 1 man. With only sewing on our minds and it was wonderful!! What a lot you can achieve if you don't have to clean, cook and grocery shop!!
Look at the blocks I made for my barn quilt. The barns will still get some animals appliquéd on the grass.

Mystery part 10

After a busy time because of the quilt show in Deventer, I almost forgot what my sewing machine looked like....
But I made today into a quilt-day and finished the top of the mystery quilt Little Carrousel by Françoise Maarse.

Now I can show the result to the "Vughtse Stucjes" quilt bee tonight at my house.
Still have to sew the mitered corners, but I will manage before 8pm.....

Busy, busy, busy

Just before the opening of the show in Deventer of the Dutch Quiltersgilde a lot of things have to be done. Many volunteers are busy organizing, collecting, hanging the quilts and getting the shops ready for the famous "winkelroute". Around 30 to 40 shops in the city center have a quilt on display in their window. So walking through Deventer is a quilt show on its own. But you still need to come to the Big Church to see the 300 quilts that have been chosen by the selection committee. This years theme is : Connection.

the big church is where the show will be held

Deventer is a beautiful city. And to make it even more special: you can park your car at the other side of the river IJssel and take the little ferry. It runs until 11 pm so there is still time to have diner after the show in one of the restaurants in town.

Hopefully it will be very busy with visitors and the Quiltersgilde will get lots of new members.

So for me as a new prospective board member these are busy times. Not much time to quilt lately, but I will take a little handwork with me to Deventer....

Bee and bees

This afternoon we heard a lot of noise. And this was the reason:
Two bunches of bees in the tree!! I called a beekeeper to come and get them. Hopefully he will be able to come tomorrow morning and take them with him to their new home....
Lots of activities inside the house as well because it was my turn to host the bee.
Maybe there is a relation between the two? We will never know.....

Roosters on the way to my sewing machine...

Today It was siggy day again. Received some beauties over the last week.

And there were my roosters walking towards my sewing machine...
Very eager to be sewn into siggies!! I bet they love the bright red and green from the Shanghai fabric as much as I do.

I love this little in between project. Keeps me thinking of all my quilt friends all over the world.

Hail, rain, thunder, lightning, siggy

What else can you do on a day like this than making siggies?  It is cold and wet and we even had some hail just now. No way I can get some planting done, so indoor activities for the moment. I don't mind....

I received a few new ones lately and the updated list so time to sew and send.
My collection is growing!!!
When you think of it: there is not a lot of difference between gardening and collecting siggies......
